Day 5, 6, 7-Art/Feeding Clinic/Driving Lessons

“Bonswa!” from Haiti! Sorry it’s taken so long to write up another post. The internet is pretty slow and we are busy spending our days playing with kids, learning Creole, meeting other missionaries,  meeting Francois’ friends and trying to understand life in Haiti. We are having a great time. It’s hot, hot, hot, hot, hot outside! We are SO thankful for the solar power energy that allows us have fans blowing on us […]

Hey all!  Thank for all of your support through emails/calling/Facebook/comments.  It is a very encouraging part of the day to hear from you.  Even if we don’t respond, it means so much!  Sorry it has been a few days, such is life in Haiti.  We are beginning to compile lists of projects that we would like to take on in the future, there are MANY needs here and we will try to prioritize […]

We are here!

Our traveling started with some early mornings.  We woke up a 4:30am in CO and Abby’s aunt gave us a ride to the airport, we land in FLL and checked into our hotel for the night. We spent a little time at the pool and then the girls were asleep by 7:00 (which is 5:00 CO time!).  We got up at 4:00am the next morning and there was a lighting/thunderstorm storm.  I got […]

2 Weeks till Departure! (Specific Needs)

Many of you have asked where we are with our upcoming trip.  We fly out two weeks from tomorrow (on May 31st)!!!  We have most of the logistics figured out (passports, charter flight, hotels, vaccinations, bills stopped etc).  However, here are some things that still need to be accomplished and if you could help in any way, we would genuinely appreciate it, whether it is through prayers or financial support: -We still need about $1,800 […]

Solar Panels Update!

Some awesome news…the solar panels are up and running!!! Thank you to all who have supported this project through prayer and financial means. This orphanage/school/sewing center/church has only had power a few hours a day, usually saving it for pumping water and light for the church.  For years the children have been going to bed in the dark, no lights.  Pastor recently talked with me about how happy the children were to have a light […]

2 pound Baby-Esther

I volunteered at Jennifer Cambells Children’s Home: Home of Hope. There was a 10 day old baby girl—Liva which means ‘life’ in English. The baby’s parents brought this infant to Bill and Jennifer. They hadn’t named the baby yet because they didn’t think it would survive. But once Bill and Jennifer agreed to keeping the baby to nurse it to health then they decided on the name Liva. Jennifer said the baby doesn’t have a good […]

THE WIDOWS PROGRAM – an opportunity to help-(By Lynn)

(Written by Lynn) Every other Saturday the widows are invited to the Church for food distribution.  Pastor Francois instigated the program because, as he likes to remind us, the Bible says, “Pure religion and undefiled is this, to care for the fatherless and widows in their affliction.” The widows arrive early, asking if there will be food today, even though they know it won’t begin until after noon.  Sometimes Pastor doesn’t know for sure until […]
