Our traveling started with some early mornings. We woke up a 4:30am in CO and Abby’s aunt gave us a ride to the airport, we land in FLL and checked into our hotel for the night. I volunteered at Jennifer Cambells Children’s Home: Home of Hope. There was a 10 day old baby girl—Liva which means ‘life’ in English. The baby’s parents brought this infant to Bill and Jennifer. They hadn’t named the baby yet because they didn’t think it would survive. But once Bill and Jennifer agreed to keeping the baby to nurse it to health then they decided on the name Liva. Pastor Francois instigated the program because, as he likes to remind us, the Bible says, “Pure religion and undefiled is this, to care for the fatherless and widows in their affliction.” The widows arrive early, asking if there will be food today, even though they know it won’t begin until after noon.
