(I’m having trouble with the website posting pics and writing captions so I’m gonna write everything up here and hopefully you can follow along.-Abby) Denny said Easter was “amazing.” Everyone got up at 3:30 a.m. Easter morning and headed to a church with 7-8 other church bodies. They met from 4-7 a.m. and had communion. Then all the churches met outside to walk around the city together in two lines praying and singing praise songs. After that they had a church service back at Pastor’s […]

Waiting with Daddy for his airport shuttle Denny headed to Haiti for Spring Break. He took a red-eye flight Friday evening and arrived early Saturday morning. When he arrived at the compound on Saturday he told me he could not believe how clean and good the kids looked. The ability to shower every day paired with the care of Carl and Sigalit has changed everything for these kids! They looked glowing, healthy, and so beautiful. Here are some pics he sent me from his day […]

Every day in Haiti is filled with moments of “OMG I can’t believe I just saw that.” They can be big things; like our first visit to the Pignon Hospital. This is considered one of the best hospitals in Haiti and Pignon is well known for it. Let’s just say that the conditions there were so horrific that Carl and I vowed to each other, that if something should happen to us (tfu-tfu-tfu), regardless of the consequences, we will take the chance and fly each […]

Below is an update on the status of the Children’s Home(from Carl and Sigalit) as well as some much needed projects they hope to complete during their stay. Carl and Sigalit have been in Pignon for 2 months now ; loving on the kids, learning Haitian culture, helping Pastor, and more! After asking Pastor what he believes are the most important needs […]

The first time Carl and I gave something out to the kids, I think it was Laffy Taffy’s, they just kinda gathered around silently, took a piece and said “Meci”. I figured they were scared of us, we were “blans”, new and they didn’t know us. The next few times we gave out things, they behaved the same way, waited silently till we handed them whatever we were giving out, but now that they knew us and we knew their names, they called out all the names of the kids who […]

A few weeks ago I wrote about the dismal condition of the roads in Haiti, particularly the rocky dirt road that is Haiti National Highway 3 connecting Pignon to Cap Haitien. Well, the other day I was pleasantly surprised to see dozens of dump trucks and road graters smoothing out sections of the road as they made improvements, albeit limited, to the rocky road. At breakfast that morning, I told Pastor […]

Before we left for Haiti, my sister-in- law made us a little photo journal book. In it she stuck a few photos, nothing special, just everyday photos. Photos of my family, friends, me, standing in front of a refrigerator holding my nephew, my nephews in the park, my sister-in-law and niece with a tray of birthday cupcakes… I decided to take the book down to show the kids. I watched as they gathered […]

We have now been in Haiti for almost two weeks and are continuing to adjust to our new surroundings. Pastor Francois left last week for two weeks in the States, which provided us with the opportunity to assume a little more responsibility in his absence. We are truly grateful that he has enough trust in us and, most importantly, in those who work in the orphanage and ministry, to leave and be confident […]

2012 was an AWESOME year for Loving Haiti! Thank YOU for your generous hearts, support and encouragement. If you remember, Loving Haiti is all about Relief, Rehabilitation and Development. 2012 was marked very much by the Relief stage. But thanks to very generous hearts, we are moving towards the Rehabilitation stage! Let’s talk a walk down memory lane together and praise God for His amazing provision… 1. SOLAR PANELS: 2012 started off right with raising around $10,000 in less than a month to buy solar […]

We’ve been here for almost a week now and there is so much to say, our brains are working overtime and there is so much to take in! We arrived in Port-Au-Prince early Friday morning. We met up with our friend Leriche at the airport. We know Leriche through an Israeli friend who worked here in Haiti. He is a doctor and is opening a clinic in Leogan and we had some medical equipment for him. It was great to see a familiar face in the […]
