History + Partnership

Pignon, Haiti

It all began in a small town called Pignon, Haiti, located 90 miles north of Port-au-Prince.  In 1982, a Haitian couple, Pastor Francois Romelus and his wife, Madam, felt called to start a church. Already parents to four biological kids and busy pastoring a church,  Francois and Madam began taking in orphans to live with them. The orphans grew in number and eventually an entire separate house had to be built for all the kids to sleep in. With all those kids came the development of a school and of a sewing center. Since 1982 Francois and Madam have started a church, orphanage, sewing center and a school, all located on the same 2-acre property.

They are saving lives everyday, both spiritually and physically. The church serves the entire community of Pignon. The orphanage serves almost 40 children. The sewing center serves around 15 women. And the school provides free or extremely discounted tuition to between 250-300 children.

When asked how in the world they faithfully continue to pour themselves out for others, they joyfully respond, “Our retirement is in heaven.”

Pastor Francois and Madam

Francois and Madam have faithfully responded to God’s calling in their lives and have done an absolutely amazing job caring for the poor, needy, helpless, orphaned, sick, and widowed.

After traveling to Haiti in 2011, Denny and Abby Bain felt inspired to bring awareness and financial support to the outstanding work being done through Francois and Madam.  Out of this passion, Loving Haiti was born.

Loving Haiti is honored to work alongside Pastor Francois and Madam. Together, we are Loving Haiti.
