Meet Marlie
We first met Marlie and her parents, Greg and Alena, a few years ago when she and Betsy started kindergarten at the same school and joined the same soccer team.
Her dad, Greg, ran on our adoption half marathon team this past Spring. Both of her parents are great supporters of Loving Haiti. They’ve even talked about coming down to Haiti as a family.
This past Spring, Loving Haiti was invited to share with the 1st graders at Dunn Elementary. Marlie and Betsy were in the same class last year and Marlie got to hear even more about Loving Haiti and the sweet kids it aims to support and help.
She was touched by what she heard and mentioned to her parents that for her birthday she wanted her gifts to go towards the kids in Haiti.
Well, she turned 7 last week and she did in fact, ask that people donate to Loving Haiti instead of giving her a birthday present.
And… $285.00 was given to Loving Haiti due to her request!
We are so touched by her kind heart and sensitive spirit. What an example she is to all of us.
Thank you, Marlie!

Yes indeed, Marlie, thank you for setting such a wonderful example for us all! And I hope that you get to come to Haiti one day to meet the children you are helping with your generous heart:-)

Marlie, I am so very proud of you for your loving act of service to others on your birthday. Sometimes birthdays can be all about the birthday person. You chose to invite people to think of others in another country who are less fortunate than you and in your own way help them in Haiti. I am not only proud of you, Marlie, but I am humbled by your caring act. Thank you for being you!
