The sheet metal roof on the building on the Hospitality House(also Francois and Madam’s home) was well over 30 years old and leaking in multiple spots. Through partnering with a church in Virginia (Reston Bible Church), we were able to replace the old roof with a concrete roof that should last for another 30 years without leaking. Because we hired Haitians to do the job instead of sending people down from the States, this job provided work to over 20 local Haitians over a 6 week period. […]

Feeding Clinic at Jennifer’s By Saundie Weiss This morning we went back to Bill and Jennifer’s to help her with the weekly feeding clinic. Every Wednesday, she offers a clinic for families who need food to feed their families. An American woman who lives here, Amber, and a pastor in Pignon help Jennifer. Saturday is/was a busy, busy day for Pastor. Workmen were here at 7 a.m.to prune plants and help replant the prunings up near the orphanage, which meant more coffee and food needed as Pastor likes to feed his laborers. The widows started arriving at 8 a.m., sitting outside until we met with them at 9:30. The teachers were here for a meeting with Pastor as well. Monday: This morning, Pastor Francois left with 3 little girls and Som (the resident mechanic of the kids–he often accompanies Pastor on longer trips to help fix the car if something happens) to go to Cap Haitien. His wife is flying to Cap tomorrow from Florida, so Pastor is combining his trip to pick her up with a trip to the doctor for the 3 girls.
