There is much beauty here in Pignon, especially at the Loving Haiti compound. Here is some of the foliage that Pastor is growing on his grounds; he loves plants and flowers, and he adds to them as he is able. It’s great for the kids to see the beauty of nature around them. And this is our view at the end our balcony–an incredibly gorgeous tree in full bloom. And, of course, the kids are the real beauties–here are Michelda and Naika, and Som helping Naika […]

We woke up to kids working hard at 7 a.m. Jerry and a few other boys continued to help the masons who are laying some cement for Pastor, girls were sweeping the dirt path clear of debris while others helped prepare food, and still others were getting ready for the washer women to come. The kids understand that we are taking some of them to the market each day. They are all clamoring to go, and we are trying to convince them that they will all get a chance […]

Tuesday: The kids huddled around the 8” screen watching a movie while we watch the USA/Belgium soccer game. Taking advantage of the electricity! Something as simple as cards keeps them entertained for quite a while. To the left is “ti” Moses, the one who just came a week or two ago because his pregnant mom was unfortunately unable to take care of both him and a new baby. The kids love looking through all the photos on my phone. They especially enjoyed watching […]

Hey, this is Abby! Plans changed quite a bit for our family this summer due to some health issues I’m dealing with. We were supposed to be arriving in Haiti a few days ago, alongside my parents, but Denny and I agreed it’d be best if I stay home this summer to promote healing. This was a very difficult decision as this means our girls will also stay home. They are super bummed, as are […]

A few months ago I was given the opportunity to share about Loving Haiti with Betsy’s 1st grade class as well as the other two 1st grade classes at her school. The first graders were in a unit called “Inspirational People” and were learning about all sorts of ways people get inspired to act and inspire others. The presentation lasted 30 minutes and the students were amazingly […]

Before I left for Haiti, Abby got a hold of some friends here in Fort Collins and asked if they’d be willing to donate some eggs so I could do an egg hunt for the kids in Haiti. So many generous families responded and filled tons and tons of eggs for the kids! It was super confusing trying to explain to the kids what an egg hunt is, but with Sigi’s mastery of Creole, the kids understood and watching them search, run, find and open […]

(I’m having trouble with the website posting pics and writing captions so I’m gonna write everything up here and hopefully you can follow along.-Abby) Denny said Easter was “amazing.” Everyone got up at 3:30 a.m. Easter morning and headed to a church with 7-8 other church bodies. They met from 4-7 a.m. and had communion. Then all the churches met outside to walk around the city together in two lines praying and singing praise songs. After that they had a church service back at Pastor’s […]

Waiting with Daddy for his airport shuttle Denny headed to Haiti for Spring Break. He took a red-eye flight Friday evening and arrived early Saturday morning. When he arrived at the compound on Saturday he told me he could not believe how clean and good the kids looked. The ability to shower every day paired with the care of Carl and Sigalit has changed everything for these kids! They looked glowing, healthy, and so beautiful. Here are some pics he sent me from his day […]

Below is an update on the status of the Children’s Home(from Carl and Sigalit) as well as some much needed projects they hope to complete during their stay. Carl and Sigalit have been in Pignon for 2 months now ; loving on the kids, learning Haitian culture, helping Pastor, and more! After asking Pastor what he believes are the most important needs at the compound, they’ve worked together to compile a list from most pressing to least. Now it’s time to share it with our […]
